Love is in the Air......It is February and love is in the air at St. Mark's preschool. We will be celebrating Valentine's day with our Valentine parties and the exchange of Valentine cards. Please be sure to check your class calendar as to when your child's class will be celebrating Valentine's Day. With our continuing effort to raise funds for our playground renovation project we have contacted several restaurants in the area that will donate a portion of their profits to the Playground Renovation fund on designated St. Mark's dining nights. More information will be coming home regarding the restaurant, the night and the instructions as to how St. Mark's can receive those proceeds. This is a perfect way for you to take your Valentine out for a nice evening and to help St. Mark's Park become a reality. During this month of February we will also be talking to your children about God's love for us and how we as God's children can honor him by loving others. Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud. 1 Corinthians 13:4 Happy Valentine's Day, Wendy February-March CalendarFeb. 21 & 22 Preschool Closed (Unless weather make-up) Feb. 23 & 24 Doughnuts for Dad March 17 & 18 Parent Teacher conferences for 2's & 3's (school closed for 2's and 3's only) March 22 & 23 Muffins for Mom March 30 & 31 Spring Pictures (please note: these dates are different from the calendar you received at the beginning of the year) Valentine and St. Patrick day parties per class
Why is there a book corner in your child's classroom? As children explore books on their own or with an interested adult, they begin to notice that print goes from left to right and top to bottom, that pictures often tell a story, and that the story stays the same as it is read over and over. Listening, paying attention, sequencing, and thinking skills are all being used as children enjoy a story. Children become acquainted with new vocabulary words and the style of formal written English as they listen to stories. |
